I have a new iPhone 4, and after having snags with the screen on my old phone that prevented me taking decent pictures, I can now use Hipstamatic again after too long without it. This waterfall was part of the walk around the Birks of Aberfeldy this afternoon.

Taking pictures of fire and flames is kind of cool. These next few are all a bit unusual, as they were taken in the dark, hand-held, and in monochrome. They're not all great pictures, but I like the way they've come out with the patterns. You can see the larger images by clicking on the thumbnails.

I finally got the screen on my iPhone fixed, making it a lot easier to use it for snapping pics at music festivals. Not only did Noah & The Whale inspire this picture, but they also fixed my phone, as the screen decided to start working during their performance, having been faulty for about 3 months!

Whose Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard?

Possibly the greatest way to serve a milkshake yet devised. Get your own at Ketchup in Shawlands (and one would assume in Ashton Lane and Dundee, coming soon to Perth and Edinburgh). Ok, so it's not a great picture, but it's an interesting subject photographed badly! In my defence, my iPhone's backlight is kaput, so I can barely see what it's pointing at.

So much for the holiday weekend heatwave! I thought I'd take my camera into town anyway, just in case the sun broke out. It did, but not until I was sitting at Waverley, waiting to head home. This is probably the best of the washed-out sky shots I took today.

I was heading home for Easter weekend yesterday, and managed to snap this shot of the Forth Road Bridge from the Forth Bridge. I'm quite pleased that it came out so well, shot as it was through the grubby window of a moving train with an iPhone with a screen that you can't see!

This was the best of 3 shots I got of this girl running through the spray at this fountain in Seattle. Shot in fast 35mm film in August 2003, this is one of my favourite black and white photos. Have a look at the full-sized image to get an appreciation of the film grain.

Union Square in San Francisco, August 2003. I had flown in the previous day, and was up incredibly early since I was 8 hours behind the UK time my body was used to. This was taken around 6 am, and it's unusual because so few people are around. The sun is rising from behind the buildings, and the signpost is just obscuring it enough to get a decent exposure.
